Title:                             Department Controlled Vehicles - Maintenance

Description:                  Do departments want Fleet to maintain department owned vehicles?  If so, develop system.

Identified Issues:           Campus departments are not aware that Fleet Services can and will work on department controlled vehicles.  Fleet Services has been hesitant in the past to work on GEMS vehicles.  The AUR team recommended that Fleet Services be willing to work on all department controlled vehicles.

Fleet Proposal:             Fleet Services will send out a letter to departments emphasizing that Fleet Services is interested and willing to work on department controlled vehicles.  This letter will be sent to all departments who currently own vehicles. 

Justification:                  Fleet Services has the capability to help campus departments by performing maintenance and repairs on their department controlled vehicles.  In the past departments have felt that they were responsible for the maintenance of their department controlled vehicles.  Fleet will now offer maintenance services to all University vehicles. 

Impact:                         The impact is unknown.  Many department controlled vehicles are located away from the Davis campus.  It may be more convenient for these departments to continue to have the work done at the remote locations.  We will have to evaluate the impact at a later date.
